Bio: I’ve had a passion for a wide variety of music from a very early age; influences include: The Beatles, Oasis, Jimi Hendrix, classical, ambient and of course, dance music.
If someone asked me to pick my favourite genre, then it would be trance. I have been into it since I first heard a magical Paul Oakenfold Essential Mix in 1996. Since then I have been heavily influenced and inspired by Mr Oakenfold and particularly his Cream residency in 1997-98, which I used to travel to regularly from my native Scotland, and of course the timeless Goa Mix.
My main influences come from the classic trance producers, with heroes such as Man With No Name, Tilt, Three ‘n’ One, Nalin & Kane, Space Brothers, Jam & Spoon, BT. Love the new wave of progressive melodic trance producers such as Andy Moor and the stuff on Electronic Elements.
• Favourite labels include Perfecto, Lost Language, Anjunabeats and Electronic Elements.
Favourite clubs; Cream @ Amnesia and The Gallery @ Turnmills.
• Also like house music in general of any variety and play funky house and electro house, see below.
Studied last year at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, Surrey (www.acm.ac.uk), doing a combined HND DJ/Production course.
• Now part of the audio electro team, with a new monthly night in the juno room at Turnmills as part of Smartie partie. 1st party (March 11th) went very well! (www.audio-electro.co.uk)
DJ sets in the UK and Ibiza including: Archaos (Glasgow), 23rd Precinct (Glasgow), Rosie’s (Falkirk), Bar Mambo, Yates, The Forum, Guildfest 2005 (Guildford), The Boston (Woking), Sun Sea Bar (Ibiza), The Highlander (Ibiza).
Current Friday night residency for past 8 months at Boston in Woking, where it breaks my heart to have to play a mixture of the good, the bad and the downright awful! Would give my right arm (well… almost!) to play my beloved trance!
3 months work experience at Lost Language Records (Nov/Dec 2005 and March 2006). 1 month work experience at Mixmag.
Did PR work in Ibiza in 2003. Currently writing articles for Spill magazine (www.spillonline.com) and a reviewer for UK-CL UK Club Listings |
